• RUWMOneSmallThing –We’ve endorsed Tahirah Amatul-Wadud so now it’s time to help her win the primary. There are lots of volunteer opportunities and the first step is learning about them. So, this week’s #RUWMOneSmallThing, one small thing you can do that will make a difference is to join the volunteer information call tomorrow night. They will introduce key staff and volunteers, discuss the many ways volunteers can help the campaign, review the upcoming training schedule, and discuss canvassing needs. The call is scheduled for Tuesday, May 22nd @ 7:00pm – 8:00pm ET. Register here

  • Help MA Immigrant Families – As of Friday afternoon, we had 15 co-sponsors for Senator Jamie Eldridge’s amendment #1147 to protect immigrant families: Senators Barrett, Boncore, Brownsberger, Chang-Diaz, Creem, Crighton, Cyr, DiDomenico, Eldridge, Friedman, Hinds, Lewis, L’Italien, Jehlen and Welsh. We need 5 more for a critical mass. So, we need you to flood Senators with phone calls today and tomorrow – and emails, too, for extra impact. The Senate has just debating its version of the FY2019 budget and the Mass. Fiscal Alliance has launched a new wave of calls and emails to intimidate legislators. So, we need to step up our game. We particularly need to target Senators outside the Boston area, and keep up the pressure on Senate Ways & Means Chairwoman Karen Spilka. If your Senator has already co-sponsored, please call/email to thank them and let them know they have your full support. For those whose Senators are still on the fence, at the end of this email, we have provided a sample email script and two sample call scripts. You can find your Senator’s contact info here; Chairwoman Spilka is at 617-722-1640 and Karen.Spilka@masenate.gov. Or use MIRA’s Phone2Action tool, which has pre-written emails you can use.
